Description

Deflazacort is a corticosteroid. It increases the level of glucocorticoid in the body and works by decreasing the formation of substances that cause inflammation and suppresses immunity to stop self damage to the body by the immune system (auto-immune reactions occurring in organ transplants or cancer).

How to use VM-STAT-6 Tablets

Take this medicine by mouth. You can crush and mix it with applesauce or swallow the tablets whole. Follow the directions on the prescription label. Take your medicine at regular intervals. Do not take it more often than directed. Do not stop taking except on your doctor’s advice. If your doctor wants you to stop the medicine, the dose may be slowly lowered over time to avoid any side effects.

Talk to your pediatrician regarding the use of this medicine in children. While this drug may be prescribed for children as young as 2 years old for selected conditions, precautions do apply.

Overdosage: If you think you have taken too much of this medicine contact a poison control center or emergency room at once.

NOTE: This medicine is only for you. Do not share this medicine with others.

Side effects

Get emergency medical help if you have signs of an allergic reaction (hives, difficult breathing, swelling in your face or throat) or a severe skin reaction (fever, sore throat, burning eyes, skin pain, red or purple skin rash with blistering and peeling).

Call your doctor at once if you have:

fever, chills, sore throat, weakness;

severe or ongoing diarrhea;

any skin rash, no matter how mild;

blurred vision, tunnel vision, eye pain, or seeing halos around lights;

swelling in your hands, feet, or lower legs;

severe muscle weakness;

decreased adrenal gland hormones–weakness, diarrhea, nausea, menstrual changes, skin discoloration, craving salty foods, and feeling light-headed;

increased adrenal gland hormones–weight gain in your face and upper back, slow wound healing, skin discoloration, acne, thinning skin, increased body hair, tiredness, mood changes, menstrual changes, sexual changes;

high blood sugar–increased thirst, increased urination, dry mouth, fruity breath odor; or

low potassium level–leg cramps, constipation, irregular heartbeats, fluttering in your chest, increased thirst or urination, numbness or tingling, muscle weakness or limp feeling.
